One person standing off to side, facing the audience, arms like the hands of a clock. The ‘clock’ is around 6:00

Kid opens ‘door’.

KID: Hi, Mom! Hi, Dad!

Nobody responds.

Kid shrugs, puts down his backpack, and walks over to couch

Kid sits down on couch, facing audience. Kid tries to turn on ‘TV’ using air remote.

TV doesn’t turn on. Kid tries again, and then a few more times. Still doesn’t work.

Kid grunts.

Kid tosses ‘remote’ aside, pulls out laptop, opens screen, and stares into it.

Clock progressively moves arms faster and faster while saying “tick” progressively faster

CLOCK: Tick…Tick…Tick…Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick tick tick tick tick tick ticktickticktickticktickticktickticktickticktickticktickticktick.

Clock stops ticking.

Kid closes laptop, puts laptop aside.

KID: Oh, entertainment, games, precious, precious computer! How do I grow bored of you? Have I not been doing this for most of my life? Where did the excitement of beating all my friends in Icy Tower go? Why do I no longer laugh at Michael Scott or cry at the end of “Up”? Farewell, mortal coil! For boredom has taken its toll!

Kid dies.
