Tick Tock Says the Grandfather Clock

Stage Left- A says to D) “Modern” young woman arguing with her mother: God, why do you always have to be such a prick? Just leave me alone.

Stage Right- B) shouting at the door, as if his grandfather was behind it: Hurry up old man! I haven’t got all day.

Center- C) On phone: I wish I could come visit Grandpop, but…um…I have to wash my cat. But I’ll see you next week?

D returns to his seat/goes of stage while A,B, and C polish his/her nails, texts, and listens to an iPod, respectively. Person E slowly approaches person A and says something inaudible to her at the same time person F does the same with person B while person C gets a phone call. Their respective family members have passed away.

All three at first freeze, then react to the news in slow motion. After about 10-20 seconds of serious grieving, all three move down stage. They say the lines slowly but in rapid succession, so that they almost overlap.

1. I love you.
